1
Customize your experience
Enjoy greater control over trades by making your experience uniquely your own.
Get started with layouts and views.
  • Quick essentials: The basic building blocks of the platform are workspaces, pages and windows, which you can use to fully customize your Merrill Edge MarketPro experience. These three elements allow you to set up and access interactive features and views in your portfolio and the market.
  • Your Workspace stores and organizes unlimited pages, in addition to quote tickers, news tickers and floating windows. In Preferences, you can customize your workspace's appearance, from changing colors and fonts to resizing and reorganizing windows. And you can import and export workspaces and load those previously saved.
  • The platform's highly configurable Page layout aggregates many types of data in a single, cohesive display. For instance, if you'd like to see the price action of 15 financial stocks, you can create a page with a full-view watchlist of the stocks as well as charts for the stocks most important to you. Pages also can be imported and exported from your workspace to other workspaces.
  • Pages contain Windows, each with their own properties and characteristics. You have a wide variety of windows to choose from such as Holdings, Orders, Watchlists, Detailed Quotes, Chart, Trading Central, OptionsPlay® and more.
Display only the news and information you want.
  • The Quote Ticker streams data about your chosen symbols and what information to display, and you can even control the scroll's speed.
  • View scrolling headlines on our News Ticker, with real-time updates based on keyword(s) or symbol(s). Choose the speed at which they scroll and then click through to those stories that interest you most.
  • With Snap Quotes, you can quickly access current price information. The snap quote bar displays the symbol's exchange name, current price, bid, ask, volume and last trade time and date.
  • You can further personalize your workspace with Notes to record a security's information. Create notes for stocks, ETFs, indexes and mutual funds and then display them in any of a large variety of windows.
  • With Web Feeds, you can add Really Simple Syndication (RSS) data sources to your workspace. Select an RSS headline, and the story text loads into your window. Double-click on a headline to launch a browser and the website from which the feed originates. The number next to the feed's name indicates how many unread stories remain in the feed.
Help along the way.
  • Quickly access the toolbar guide linked to the window displayed via the "?" icon. This comprehensive toolbar guide includes definitions and links to resources, which outlines functionality and maximizes capabilities.
2
Stream data & research
Get uninterrupted, real-time updates, with world-class research at your fingertips.
Stay up on the markets.
  • Stream Detailed Quotes in real time for in-depth information on an instrument. Display reported elements and data points on stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, indexes and more by simply typing a symbol into the field or selecting one from your watchlist. You can also access quote display properties or the last ten securities viewed.
  • Set up customized Watchlists to monitor securities in real time and stay on track or adapt your strategy as opportunities arise. Like most Merrill Edge MarketPro windows, watchlists are fully customizable, with 264 investment statistics (depending on asset class) to choose from. You can also compare securities on a heatmap or search for equities based on up to 15 criteria and then display the results in their own watchlist.
  • Read News headlines as they come through the wire via a continuous stream of real-time stories, providing you uninterrupted access to the information you need. You can filter by keyword(s), symbol and more.
  • Automatically scan Market Movers on the U.S stock exchanges based on your own criteria. Locate stocks based on percent gainers or losers, volume or almost 90 other filters. Market Movers is updated every 30 seconds, and each day's data results are cleared and reset every evening.
Identify potential opportunities.
  • For underlying security, real-time Option Chain shows strike prices by put and call designations and expiry dates. You can add, subtract or rearrange columns, add window options, manage alerts and change headings. Sort by expiration date and quickly find strike prices that are in the money or out.Footnote 1 Chart key analytic values across expiration dates and strike prices or apply options analytics. And view standard Option Chain and Analysis Chart results side by side or in separate windows.
  • OptionsPlay® helps you evaluate investment strategies, analyze trades and make more informed investment decisions. You can compare trading strategies side by side for a stock or ETF, evaluate a stock or options order by validating it against complex market conditions and analyze potential trades using simulators such as profit/loss, risk and investment, trading range and more. And all data is presented in a way that's easy to understand.
  • Using Market Depth with Level II quotes, you can review the buy/sell activity of market makers trading on the U.S. exchanges for equities and options. The left half of the window is the buy side, and the right side is the sell side. View data by Nasdaq Order Book, Level II, Total View and Book by Price or Regional exchanges. To qualify for Market Depth with Level II quotes, you must maintain total combined balances of $1 million or more in your Merrill investment accounts and Bank of America, N.A. deposit accounts or make at least 30 self-directed trades per quarter.
  • Monitor the Security Sales Log for bids, asks and completed trades. You can stream the data in real time, select by date or time ranges of up to 6 weeks and filter by price per share, value (price times size) or volume.
  • Monitor multiple symbols' quotes simultaneously with the Quote Grid; simply right-clicking on a grid square enables you to easily insert or delete columns and rows.
Options involve risk and are not suitable for all investors. Certain requirements must be met to trade options. Before engaging in the purchase or sale of options, investors should understand the nature of and extent of their rights and obligations and be aware of the risks involved in investing with options. Please read the options disclosure document titled "Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options (PDF)" before considering any option transaction. You may also call the Investment Center at 877.653.4732 for a copy. A separate client agreement is needed. Multi-leg option orders are charged one base commission per order, plus a per-contract charge.

The maximum loss, gain and breakeven of any options strategy only remains as defined so long as the strategy contains all original positions. Trading, rolling, assignment, or exercise of any portion of the strategy will result in a new maximum loss, gain and breakeven calculation, which will be materially different from the calculation when the strategy remains intact with all of the contemplated legs or positions. This is applicable to all options strategies inclusive of long options, short options and spreads. To learn more about Merrill's uncovered option handling practices, view Naked Option Stress Analysis (NOSA) (PDF).

Early assignment risk is always present for option writers (specific to American-style options only). Early assignment risk may be amplified in the event a call writer is short an option during the period the underlying security has an ex-dividend date. This is referred to as dividend risk.

Long options are exercised and short options are assigned. Note that American-style options can be assigned/exercised at any time through the day of expiration without prior notice. Options can be assigned/exercised after market close on expiration day. View specific Merrill Option Exercise & Assignment Practices (PDF).

Supporting documentation for any claims, comparison, recommendations, statistics, or other technical data, will be supplied upon request.
